Radio presenter Mkamburi Chigogo has called on women to stop showing pity to men, saying many end up taking advantage when they notice a woman is easily moved by sympathy.

While speaking on her radio show on Monday, December 1, 2025, she shared a strong message telling women to be careful, especially when dealing with men who come with many stories and requests for help.

She said, “Usiwahi mhurumia mwanaume.” She explained that a man who truly wants to solve his problems will always look for solutions on his own. She said that by the time a man decides to approach a woman and ask for financial help, it usually means he has already tried all other options.

Mkamburi said a man will look at a woman and decide she is the one who will feel sorry for him. She said this often happens when the woman has feelings for him or when the man believes she is easy to convince.

Her warning on financial pressure

Mkamburi said some men come with many stories and excuses because they know women naturally feel sympathy.

She said, “Anakuja hapo na stories kama hamsini anakuambia sijui tupande, tushuke, tuingie tutoke. Halafu akakucheki, akaona mnyonga wake ni nani? Ni huyu madam. Huyu madam, kwanza kama ni madam ambaye …kama ni mama yake unajua hiyo ni tofauti. But if you are a…uko na feelings kidogo, hata bado hamjaoana. Anakuangalia anaona, this one, ndio atanihurumia.” She added that many women then feel pity and start making sacrifices that affect their own lives.

She explained that some women end up taking loans, giving out their salaries or even allowing the man to move into their homes, all because they feel sorry for him. Mkamburi warned that this becomes a problem, especially for women who are not married and are hoping that helping the man will lead to marriage.

She said a woman should never push herself or take on pressure because of a man who is only relying on sympathy. According to her, if a man wants to make progress, he will do so without needing to pressure a woman for help.

She said, “If men want to make it happen, they always do. Mtu asiwai kudangana. Sasa wewe ukiwa mtu wa kuoneana huruma, especially kama hujaolewa, wale ambao wanaona kuolewa ni kufika mbiguni….unajituma kwa sababau ya huyu mtu?”

Mkamburi also pointed out that some women think marriage is the final sign of success and end up doing too much to hold on to a man.
