Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has finally shown off two motorbikes she bought to give to the late Shalkido.

In a video clip shared on her Instagram account on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, Karen Nyamu regretted that the musician is gone and will not be able to see or benefit from them.

Karen Nyamu regrets Shalkido’s death

Nyamu revealed that she had intended to gift the bikes to the artist as part of an empowerment initiative before his sudden death.

“I bought these for Shalkido. One for him and another for another needy youth. He never asked for a bike; he just needed help,” Nyamu wrote.

“Now he is gone. We mourn and let you rest. Such a young soul gone too soon.”

The nominated senator’s emotional message has since drawn mixed reactions online, with some fans appreciating her kind gesture, while others suggested the timing of her revelation might attract unnecessary attention.

The former Sailors Gang member, best known for his musical collaborations in the Gengetone scene, died following a road accident in Ruiru on Monday night, October 6, 2025.

The accident occurred just moments after he had spent time with YouTuber Oga Obinna at a popular club in Thika Town.

Family members confirmed that the young musician succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment at Kenyatta University Referral Hospital.

Shalkido’s death has left fans and fellow artists mourning a rising star whose career had shown signs of revival in recent months.

Ofweneke sends caution

Amid the public tributes, comedian and media personality Dr Ofweneke appeared to indirectly respond to trending posts surrounding Shalkido’s death.

In a statement shared on his Instagram page, he urged Kenyans to avoid using tragedy for attention.

“Let’s normalise not using death for clout and likes!!” he wrote. “If you really didn’t know the person, si lazima. How sick are you to try and get likes out of death!!”

Ofweneke stressed that only those who truly knew Shalkido should publicly speak about him, singling out Oga Obinna as one of the few people who had a genuine friendship with the late artist.

As tributes continue to pour in, fans across the country are remembering Shalkido as a talented performer whose life was cut short too soon, leaving behind a legacy of music and inspiration.
