The artiste, who had earlier been reported to be in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Kenyatta University Referral Hospital, passed away on the evening of Monday, October 6, 2025.
In a heartbreaking video shared by family members on TikTok, Shalkido’s cousin confirmed his death while standing beside his father, saying they had just received news from doctors that the singer had succumbed to his injuries.
In a statement on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, Ofwoneke condemned the growing trend of people using death to chase likes and online engagement.
“Let’s normalise not using death for clout and likes!!” he wrote. “If you really didn’t know the person, si lazima. How sick are you to try and get likes out of death!!”
Ofwoneke went on to emphasise that only those who had a genuine relationship with Shalkido should speak about him publicly, singling out Oga Obinna, a close friend of the late artist, as one of the few with the right to comment.
“The only person who can speak of Shalkido is Obinna, who they were friends and alimsadia. Nyinyi wengine print hizo screenshots za maDMs na mtupe huko kwa matakataka!! NISIONE SCREENSHOT INGINE!!” he added firmly.

Bahati’s revelation
His remarks come after Kenyan musician Bahati shared a heartfelt message recounting his final conversation with the late Shalkido that has since received backlash.
Taking to social media on Monday night, October 2025, Bahati revealed that the two had recently been in talks about a possible music collaboration, only for tragedy to strike before they could make it to the studio.
“You had just talked to my management on our collabo na mkapanga tuingie studio this coming week. Rest well, young king. Tutaonana baadaye,” Bahati wrote.
Bahati also shared a screenshot of a message Shalkido had sent him on Instagram, where the young artist humbly requested a collaboration.
“Vipii bro, hope you’re doing well? Just said I reach to you, I’m really humbled kuomba collabo kwa D and Bossy Bahati,” read Shalkido’s message.
