Jalang’o boasts of 16K turnout as Luo Festival 2025 packs Uhuru Gardens

The Luo Festival 2025 lived up to its billing on Saturday, August 9, drawing a massive crowd to Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi.

According to Lang’ata Member of Parliament (MP) Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, the event attracted an impressive 16,000 attendees.

Jalang’o, who is among the festival’s organisers, took to his Instagram Stories as the event went down to share the milestone, celebrating the overwhelming support from fans.

“16,000 strong…This is Luo Nation,” Jalang’o captioned a video of Prince Indah performing to the massive crowd that sang along to his songs.

The annual cultural event, known for showcasing Luo music, fashion, cuisine, and lifestyle, has steadily grown into one of Kenya’s most popular social gatherings.

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino was among the notable leaders in attendance and shared photos from the event, showing packed grounds and an energetic crowd enjoying live performances.

“Currently attending the annual Luo Festival at Uhuru Gardens. Let’s embrace and preserve the pride of our traditions, uniting as one community in love and strength,” Babu Owino captioned the photos he shared from the event.

Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo was also among the notable figures from the photos shared by Babu Owino.

The festival featured top Luo musicians, DJs, and cultural displays.

The attendees enjoyed performances from Iyanni, Javan Macajudo, Khaligraph Jones, Okello Max, Coster Ojwang, John Junior, Musa Jakadala, Osito Kale, Odongo Swag, Prince Inda, Tony Nyadundo, and Emma Jalamo (final performance), with DJ Joe Mfalme entertaining them for the rest of the event.
