Gospel singer Mary Lincon, who has been the lead evangelist of Priesthood Fellowship Church, Ruiru, has been elevated to the office of Reverend in a moving ceremony held at her church on Saturday, November 15, 2025.

The ordination was conducted by Priesthood Church Kamutiini’s head pastor, Bishop Mwangi Zakayo, and the church’s founder, Bishop Emeritus Gitahi Maina Wangari.

The event started with pomp and colour, with the bishops arriving in a fleet of high-end cars before being ushered into the front seats of the church, which Lincon has dubbed ‘Pi Hahirothu’.

In a livestream shared on her Facebook page, a number of other preachers, alongside JJ Gitahi, are seen surrounding her and praying fervently as the ordination process began.

Bishop Mwangi Zakayo is seen particularly kneeling in front of her, where a basin was placed, and beginning to wash her feet as another preacher read scriptures about the process of anointment.

Bishop Zakayo is also seen adding what he referred to as holy oil and salt, mixing it with the water as he continued to pray for God to intervene in the process.

“And now I add oil to this water. I mix the oil and water so we can proceed with this ordination. And I will also add salt because you said that, oh God, you are the salt of the world. And if salt lacks taste, it is thrown away,” Zakayo said.

The ordination then took a heated pace as all evangelists, who were at the front, started praying loudly, with some speaking in tongues, as Bishop Mwangi Zakayo sprinkled the oil and water mixture on Mary’s feet.

In the video, Mary is seen crying and wiping tears as a female Reverend helped her dry her feet following the ordination, which involved soaking them in the water for close to five minutes.

Mary Lincon was then dressed in fresh robes as a Reverend, and the congregation erupted in cheers.

Bishop ordination

The development comes just six months after the singer was commissioned as the new bishop of the Priesthood Fellowship Church, Ruiru branch.

During that time, Mary celebrated the milestone with a solemn commissioning ceremony blessed by His Grace Bishop Mwangi Zakayo.

At the event, she was seated at the pulpit as Bishop Zakayo and other church leaders laid hands on her in prayer, conferring spiritual guidance and blessing the new branch.

In one notable moment, the bishop knelt before her, symbolically placing his hand on her head.

She then shared about the event on Facebook, calling the commissioning both an honour and a divine opportunity to extend the kingdom of God.

“I want to sincerely thank you, my father in the Lord, Bishop Mwangi Zakayo for the great honour and privilege of commissioning me to open a new branch of the ministry at Ruiru. Your trust, prayers, and leadership have been a guiding light in my journey,” she wrote.

She emphasised her commitment to advancing the ministry with diligence, humility, and faithfulness to the vision entrusted to her.

“This assignment is not just a responsibility; it is a divine opportunity to extend the kingdom of God under your covering and with your blessing. I do not take it lightly. Thank you for believing in the calling of God upon my life and for releasing me with your full support. I am committed to upholding the vision and advancing the gospel with diligence, humility, and power. May God continue to bless you and enlarge your influence. I remain ever grateful,” she said
