Fridah Mwaka pens hilarious birthday tribute as Lofty Matambo turns 40

Media personality Fridah Mwaka has celebrated her colleague and close friend Lofty Matambo on his milestone 40th birthday, sharing a heartfelt yet humorous tribute.
In a post shared on her Instagram on Saturday, August 30, 2025, Mwaka reflected on the years they have spent working together, describing Matambo as her partner not only in news but also in navigating life’s unpredictable moments.
She noted having witnessed him grow professionally, hustle through challenges, experience financial highs and lows, and navigate the complexities of relationships over the years.
“Happy 40th pacha wangu @loftymatambo. My partner in news and in life’s madness! 🎉 For the past years, I’ve been privileged to walk this journey with you through the highs and the lows. I’ve seen you grow, I’ve seen you hustle, I’ve seen you broke, and I’ve seen you loaded 😅.”

Her celebration also acknowledged Matambo’s emotional journey, observing moments of happiness, sadness, dating experiences, heartbreaks, and even financial misadventures, showing the depth of the bond they share.
Mwaka’s message carried a playful nudge towards settling down and taking the next steps in love, suggesting that it was time to trade youthful adventures and past heartbreaks for more stable personal milestones.
“I’ve seen you happy, I’ve seen you cry, I’ve seen you date, get dumped, and yes, I’ve even seen your money being eaten 💸😂. But today, as you hit the big 4-0, I feel like I’m officially relieving you of your ‘youthful adventures’ and declaring: It’s time! Time to settle, time to say “I do”, she added.

The social media tribute, which combined humour, nostalgia, and genuine admiration, also saw her express excitement and encouragement for this next chapter in his life, signalling her support for both his personal happiness and professional success.
“And time to trade heartbreaks for honeymoons in the Maldives 😂 Valisha Huyo Mushangazi Pete 💍Huu Mwaka Au Sio.”
Matambo’s post
On his part, Matambo marked the occasion with a moving post recounting the exact circumstances of his birth in Kilifi County.
He traced back four decades to Madeteni, also known as Lowlands in Kichonyi, Pingilikani, where his mother was harvesting rice during the season.
He described how she went into labour at 2:15 pm and was rushed to the hospital, with his arrival later that same evening. He affectionately referred to himself as “Mtoto wa Mfalme” in the post, adding a playful touch to the personal reflection.
“Exactly 40 years ago today, at 2:15 pm, Madeteni(to mean lowlands in Kichonyi) in Pingilikani, Kilifi County, while harvesting rice(this is the season), Mama Lofty got labour pains and rushed to the hospital. The same evening, Mtoto wa Mfalme was born.”
