Former Real Househelps of Kawangware actor seeks medical help

Former Real Househelps of Kawangware actor Dedan Juma, popularly known by his screen name Dedan Onyango, has reached out to the public for assistance during what he describes as a difficult period in his life.
On Wednesday, August 13, 2025, fellow actor and comedian DJ Shiti took to Instagram to rally support for his friend and former co-star. Posting on his page, DJ Shiti urged fans to contribute whatever they could, writing, “Dedan Onyango is appealing for your help. Chochote ulichonacho.”
His message was accompanied by a heartfelt call to stand with the actor in his time of need.
Dedan himself posted an emotional appeal to his fans and well-wishers, saying, “Greetings to you, fellow Kenyans. I am kindly appealing to you, my fans, and the kind fellow Kenyan community, whoever is in a position to help. This is a difficult journey alone. I hope and pray that you can stand with me in this. I appreciate any support.”

Strong TV comeback
Dedan Juma is no stranger to Kenyan TV audiences. He rose to fame through his role in Real Househelps of Kawangware, a comedy series that humorously portrayed life in Nairobi’s estates. His on-screen chemistry with DJ Shiti and other cast members made him a fan favourite during the show’s peak years.
After a period away from the limelight, Dedan made a major television comeback earlier this year when he landed a role in the Kenyan Netflix series Kash Money. In the show, he took on the role of one of the antagonists, a “bad guy” whose performance drew praise for its authenticity and energy. Fans and critics alike lauded his ability to fully embody the character, making him a standout presence in the series.

However, despite his recent professional achievements, Dedan’s current appeal highlights the challenges many actors face in sustaining themselves between projects. The entertainment industry in Kenya, like in many other parts of the world, often sees talented performers struggling financially when they are off-screen.
DJ Shiti’s public show of solidarity underscores the strong bonds formed between cast members of Real Househelps of Kawangware. It also serves as a reminder of the importance of community support in helping artists navigate difficult times.
