Comedian-turned-philanthropist Eric Omondi has requested Tanzanian gospel singer Christina Shusho to bring her ministry to Kenya by opening a church.
This came after the comedian attended a service at the singer’s church, The Dreamers Centre, in Dar es Salaam on Sunday, January 12, and got prayed for.
In a video shared by the comedian on his Instagram page on Monday, January 13, 2024, he is seen addressing her congregants before being prayed for, as the singer held him by the waist.
The comedian then went down on his knees as the prayers intensified, and he is later seen hugging Shusho in appreciation of the powerful intercessory.
Omondi then addressed congregants of the church, which was furnished in modern designs, and announced that his prayer was that God directs Shusho to come and open a church in Kenya.
He noted that he was speaking on behalf of Kenyans and the singer’s close Kenyan ally, Churchill, expressing that Shusho was a powerful minister of the word.
“Kwa niaba ya Churchill na kwa niaba ya Wakenya, kwa niaba ya kanisa la Kenya, tunaomba mtumishi Mungu akuelekeze, akuongeleshe, na utufungulie kanisa moja kule Kenya,” Omondi said.
Eric’s request to Tanzanians
While addressing the press in Manzese outside the singer’s church, Omondi asked Tanzanians to lend Kenyans the woman of God for only two years, promising they would return her afterwards.
He said she needs to come and sow seeds, including those of powerful pastors like her, and raise devoted followers of Christ before she returns to Tanzania.
He noted that he felt 2025 was the ideal time God had slated for the Shusha Nyavu hitmaker to launch her church in Kenya, adding that Kenyans were more than willing to host her.
“Muda umefika pengine Mungu alikuwa anataka tufungue 2025 na a new anointing and a new blessing. Ila sisi tunaomba Watanzania mtusaidie mama; tutamrudisha after two years. Akuje aplant akielekeza, akiweka mayouth pastor, Sunday school, nini,” he said.
He also hailed Shusho, saying she was like gold to Kenyans, but Tanzanians have never realized it.
“Mwaka wangu umeanza vizuri. Na pia nilikuwa nimekuja kumuomba mtumishi. Unajua nyinyi Watanzania hamuelewi. Mungu awafungue macho. Mko na gold, dhahabu, ila hamuelewi,” he added.
Moving to Kenya
On Sunday, Tuesday, December 31, 2024, the singer performed in Kenya in sold-out New Year’s Eve concerts.
In an interview with a local TV station after the December 2023 concert, the singer said she had lost count of the many times she had visited Kenya and had reached a point where she was considering settling there.
“I also know that I have received so much grace from Kenyans; the love is surreal. Every time I am in Kenya, I feel welcomed – I feel at home. I have been talking and asking my partners and Kenyan friends. It is something I am considering,” she announced.
