Comedian and content creator Fred Omondi lost his life in a road accident in Nairobi early Saturday morning June 15, 2024.
Eric Omondi confirmed his brother’s death through a post on social media where he shared a video of the deceased and him.
“Go well brother💔🕊 @fredomondi_,” Eric Omondi wrote.
Speaking to the media outside Mama Lucy Kibaki hospital, fellow comedian Onjiri also talked about Fred’s passing saying that he learnt of the tragic news through their WhatsApp group.
“Niliskia kwa WhatsApp group yet nkauliza ako wapi nkaambiwa anaweza kua ameletwa Mama Lucy so nkakimbia Mama Lucy na kufika hapa ukweli nimeambiwa ako huku, ameletwa uku amepata accident,” Onjiri said.
Asked about the accident, Onjiri said the exact nature of the incident is not known at the moment.
He explained that a doctor at Mama Lucy Hospital told him the deceased was taken to the facility when he was in very bad shape following the accident.
“Nimeongea na one of the doctors in here amesema aliletwa hapa na venye aliletwa amepata accident inakaa either ni hit and run ama alikua kwa piki piki akagongwa through that impact kwa sababu they say it is a fatal impact. It is a very very big impact. So inaweza kua ni hit and run ama inaweza kua ni accident ya piki piki,” Onjiri narrated.
Condolences
Tributes are already pouring in after news of Fred Omondi’s death started trickling in on social media.
In a heartfelt social media post, Luo Benga musician Wuod Fibi mourned the loss of Fred Omondi, highlighting the deep sense of sorrow felt by many.
“Rest Well osiepa!!!! It is sad that you have left us at such a young age. Awuoro accident
We are mourning Fred Omondi Wuod Gi Irene Jaber Nyar Jaluo….😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭,” he wrote, accompanied by a string of crying emojis.
Lang’ata Member of Parliament (MP) Phelix Odiwuor Khodhe, more popularly known as Jalang’o, also mourned Fred’s death in a post on social media.

According to his posts on Instagram, Fred Omondi was to host a gig last Friday night at a joint in Donholm.
It is not clear if he hosted the gig at the club.
The deceased was also slated to host a club event in Meru today Saturday, June 15, 2024.
He was promoting his Meru show through his posts on InstaStories.
