Comedian Eric Omondi has once again lived up to his reputation as a philanthropist after coming through for former Sailors Gang member Shalkido Gacucu with a brand-new motorbike.

The gesture came days after Shalkido made a heartfelt appeal, revealing that he was at his breaking point as a father after countless failed attempts to provide for his family.

In his plea, the singer had specifically asked for a motorbike to restart his hustle and support his wife and child.

“I am really humbled to ask my beautiful and great fellow Kenyans to help me share this post so that it can reach Eric Omondi. Sir, I am sincerely humbled to ask for your support. Even if I could get just a motorbike to start hustling again and support my family, I would be deeply grateful,” Shalkiddo had said at the time.

Speaking during the handover on Monday, September 1, 2025, Eric explained that the initiative was made possible after contributions from members of his Sisi kwa Sisi movement.

He revealed that money initially raised for another project in Kitengela was redirected to support Shalkido, ensuring he received not just a motorbike, but also a complete package to help him rebuild his life.

“We used the contributions from Sisi kwa Sisi to buy Shalkiddo a brand-new motorbike. It is registered under his official name, with the logbook and insurance already processed. The tank is full, and we even did some shopping for him and his family,” Eric said.

Eric noted that the motorbike has been registered under Shalkido’s official name, Paul Koigi Mungai, with the logbook and insurance fully processed in his favour.

He added that the bike had been fuelled with a full tank and that his team had also done some shopping for the artiste and his family.

“Shalkido said he wanted a motorbike so that he could use it to pay his rent, take care of his child’s school fees, and provide for his family,” he added.

Overwhelmed with emotion, Shalkido expressed deep gratitude to both Eric and Kenyans who contributed to the initiative.

He said he was thankful to God for answering his prayers and promised to show his appreciation by releasing a song dedicated to those who stood by him in his lowest moment.

“I am very grateful to Eric and to every Kenyan who contributed to making this happen. Above all, I thank God because this is truly an answered prayer. I was at my breaking point. Now that I have been given this chance, I will even release a song to thank everyone who stood by me,” he said.

Shalkido’s gratitude followed a recent social media confession where he admitted that life after Sailors Gang’s split had been filled with frustration, disappointment, and hardship despite his attempts at different hustles.

He had described his appeal not as an act of pride but as a cry for survival, noting that he had exhausted every possible option.

“As a Kenyan artiste and as a father, I have reached the end. I have tried my very best to support my family, but everything keeps falling apart. I have tried every hustle, but it has become extremely tough,” he wrote.
