Ex-Sailors Gang member Shalkido pleads for help
Former Sailors Gang member Shalkido has laid bare his pain, confessing that he has reached the breaking point as a father after countless failed attempts to provide for his family.
In an Instagram post on Monday, August 25, 2025, the artiste, who was once part of the popular Gengetone group that dominated Kenya’s music scene with chart-topping hits, confessed that life after the group’s split has been a constant struggle marked by disappointment, frustration, and an unending search for stability.
He said that despite trying different hustles, nothing has worked, and his efforts have only led to more hardship, leaving him overwhelmed and desperate.
“As a Kenyan artiste and as a father, I have reached the end. I have tried my very best to support my family, but everything keeps falling apart. I have tried every hustle, but it has become extremely tough,” he wrote.

In his post, Shalkido made a heartfelt appeal to comedian Eric Omondi, asking for his intervention to help him get back on his feet.
He noted that even the simple gift of a motorbike would be enough to restart his hustle and allow him to once again provide for his family with dignity.
He explained that his plea was not one of pride but one of survival, as he had exhausted every option and could no longer hide the reality of his situation.
“I am really humbled to ask my beautiful and great fellow Kenyans to help me share this post so that it can reach Eric Omondi. Sir, I am sincerely humbled to ask for your support. Even if I could get just a motorbike to start hustling again and support my family, I would be deeply grateful,” he added.
The message also extended to Kenyans, whom he described as beautiful and great, as he asked them to share his post widely so that it could reach Omondi.
His words carried the pain of a parent who feels powerless, and he insisted that he is determined to find a way to take care of his loved ones.
“I kindly ask you all to help me reach him because I have reached the end as a parent,” he added.

Shalkido, who had been one of the lead singers of the once celebrated musical group, branched out to pursue a career in Mugithi music.
In early January, he also appealed for help, recalling the hostility and even death threats that he and his former manager, Mwalimu Rachel, endured following disputes over the group’s YouTube channel.
