Just hours after comedian-cum activist Eric Omondi appealed for help in locating a boy seen in a viral video crying for not being at school over lack of school fees, he has managed to locate him.

Omondi had on Thursday, October 10, 2024, in the morning, asked Kenyans who might have any information about the boy, to send him a direct message or comment on his post with the boy’s parent’s phone number.

“Please help me locate this boy🙏🙏🙏🙏 If you know him DM Me or comment with his parents’ number,” the comedian shared via his official social media accounts.

Barely six hours later, Eric Omondi has taken to his official social media accounts to reveal that he had managed to link up with the boy together with his family.

However, the sad state of the family made Omondi to quickly swing into action and initiate a fundraiser through his popular fundraising platform, Sisi Kwa Sisi.

He vowed to take the boy back to school and help improve the living standards of the family.

Omondi shared that he had found out that the family of the boy was living like squatters after they fell victims of the demolitions that were witnessed in Nairobi between April 2024, and June 2024, as a result of floods that had been caused by a heavy down pour.

The comedian who has been for the longest time now helping the less fortunate in society through his Sisi Kwa Sisi initiative, urged his followers to channel their contributions through the young boy’s mother’s contact.

He revealed that the boy’s father used to operate a butchery within Chokaa, which was too, not spared during the demolition period.

Makeshift house

As a result, the family, Eric Omondi says, has been living in a makeshift house that has been constructed in a deserted area, with no access to electricity and water.

“Hey guys tumepata our boy. Leo tunamrudisha shule. It’s a very sad story. This family has been reduced to squatters, they are literally homeless. Wamejenga nyumba tu kwa kichaka…no water…no electricity. The father had a butchery in Chokaa but walibomolewa. Team Sisi Kwa Sisi let’s change their story forever,” Eric Omondi shared.

The boy went viral after being captured in a TikTok video being questioned on why he was not in school.

In response, the boy broke down in tears, narrating how a huge school fees balance had kept him away from school as his peers continued learning.

The boy who revealed that he was in Form One, said he had gone to pray for God to open ways so that he would go back to school.
