From activism to politics: Eric Omondi set to tell all in massive 3-hour Sunday special

Comedy heavyweight turned political activist Eric Omondi has announced a monumental return to the stage that is set to rock the entertainment industry.

Addressing the press on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, the firebrand entertainer revealed that he is finally breaking his seven-year live stand-up silence with an explosive, one-man comedy special this coming Sunday.

The blockbuster event, dubbed “Eric Omondi Untamed,” will take place at the Imperial Chambers Garden along Kiambu Road, marking a historic full-circle moment for a man who once dominated the country’s biggest stages.

Reflecting on his lengthy absence from live stand-up routines, Omondi admitted it has been nearly a decade since he last held a stadium crowd captive with just a microphone.

“Karibuni sana guys to Imperial Chambers Garden, Kiambu Road. This is where we will be on Sunday for a very historic event,” Omondi announced enthusiastically.

“I am saying it is historic because I don’t remember the last time I did standup in Kenya, it must have been seven years ago at KICC the Untamed 11—we did a series of 11 shows.”

The comedian noted that his last traditional live sets occurred way back in 2018 at iconic venues such as the Kenya International Convention Centre (KICC), the Carnivore, and Bomas of Kenya.

While he has remained a titanic force on social media, he promised that the raw, unfiltered energy of a live crowd would be completely unmatched—especially given how much his life has changed since the pre-pandemic era.

With seven years of stored-up material, Omondi is expanding his usual two-hour set into a grueling, high-octane three-hour marathon of nonstop laughter.

“The one man, one mic, two hours show is back. And you can imagine how much content I have for a comedian mwenye hajafanya show for seven years,” he teased.

“I do a lot of comedy online but ile ya kushika tu mic watu wakae chini niwachekeshe… You can imagine how many things have happened. Ni kitambo sana even before Corona.”

Attendees, including a star-studded guest list of local celebrities, can expect Eric Omondi to hold absolutely nothing back.

In recent years, the comic has increasingly shifted away from pure entertainment, frequently making front-page headlines for leading anti-government protests, championing civil rights, and positioning himself as an upcoming political figure.

He promised that this Sunday’s set will seamlessly blend his trademark theatrical wit with deep, hilarious insights into his controversial evolution.

“So this Sunday I am doing Eric Omondi Untamed—one man, one mic, three hours of nonstop laughter. Mutavunjwa mbavu, and of course I have invited all celebrities,” Omondi declared.

“So we will be talking about everything from the industry, from Kenyan music, Kenyan celebrities to maandamano (protests). Huyu Eric Omondi yani amefanya vitu mingi. Eric Omondi ni comedian mara tena ni activist, ni upcoming politician. So we will talk about all that—alitoka wapi, kwao ni wapi, mamake ni nani… yani story mob sana in the most hilarious ways.”
