Eric Omondi has been arrested for the third time in recent days while protesting in Nairobi Central Business District (CBD).

The comedian was arrested on Monday, March 3, 2023, around Jeevanjee Gardens where he was protesting alongside others.

Last week, Eric Omondi was arrested while carting thousands of Curriculum Vitae (CV) to the State House. A week earlier, he was apprehended while distributing maize flour at City Stadium along Jogoo Road.

Protests called off

The latest arrest of the comedian comes even as Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance leader Raila Odinga called off demonstrations that were scheduled for Monday, April 3, to allow engagement with the State on the reconstitution of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Eric had earlier on implored Raila to hold daily protests.

Eric added that demonstrations should be held daily so that the government runs out of money just the way Kenyans are broke.

Gachagua alisema serikali inapoteza na leo wamepewa pesa ngapi ya kununua magari? 802 million kubuy magari. Maandamano ikue kila siku serikali ikose pesa venye Wakenya wamekosa pesa. Ushaelewa? Wakenya hawana pesa.

The comedian said he would stage his demos every Wednesday and Friday if Raila doesn’t go ahead and hold daily protests.

Afanye Monday to Monday. Si tutajoin. Kama ameshindwa, ameweka Monday na Thursday situnaweka Wednesday na Friday. So the whole of our live itakua weekend,” he said.

Nataka tushikane si wote kama Wakenya, Kenya yote isimame si wote tukose pesa,” he added.
