Kenyan entertainer DJ Xclusive has addressed the topic of dating as a single mother on Thursday, September 11, 2025.

The DJ said it is important for women raising children to be transparent from the very beginning when entering relationships.

According to him, not every man is prepared to take on the responsibility of dating a single mother, and this reality should be acknowledged early on. “I want to talk to single mothers. Not everyone can handle a single mother,” he said.

Call for transparency

DJ Xclusive advised single mothers to use their social media profiles as a way of making their status clear. He suggested that women pin posts on Instagram that mention or show their children so that potential partners are aware before pursuing them.

Kuko na three pinned posts huko Instagram. Iweke hapo juu so that you get rid of those men who can’t handle single mothers. Many will come in, and then they will find out you have a child,” he explained.

He went further to recommend that women include subtle hints in their bios to make things even clearer. For instance, he mentioned phrases like “soccer mom” as an easy way of signalling that one is raising a child.

“Pale kwa bio, weka hata soccer mom, ndio nikiingia kwa profile nijue uko na mtoto,” he added.

For DJ Xclusive, the problem arises when women conceal the fact that they have children until deep into a relationship. He stressed that honesty is crucial from the start, rather than waiting several months before revealing such important details.

“Si eti after tumedate for three months unaniambia uko na mtoto,” he said, noting that this kind of disclosure can lead to unnecessary tension and mistrust.

DJ Xclusive believes single mothers can avoid wasting their time on men who are unwilling or unprepared to embrace their children. At the same time, he suggested that such clarity would help men who are genuinely ready for the responsibility to step forward without hesitation.

His message was not about discouraging single mothers from dating but about urging them to own their reality and ensure potential partners understand it from the start. In his view, honesty remains the best filter when it comes to relationships involving children.
