Radio presenter and comedian Daniel ‘Churchill’ Ndambuki is set to host his first live show since the COVID-19 pandemic.

The comedian was forced to stop hosting live shows after the government banned public gatherings and in-person meetings to slow the spread of the killer virus.

In an update on his Facebook page, Churchill noted that the show will be held at Mount Kenya University (MKU) in Thika, adding that the show will be aired on TV47.

“The day is finally here! We’re totally excited and can’t wait to hit that stage. The journey sets off at Mount Kenya University and at a new home TV47. Be there,” Churchill said.

The show will also mark the launch of the Churchill Institute of Performing Arts at Mwai Kibaki Convention Center at the institute.

“Today is a great day for the future of entertainment industry not only in Kenya but also Africa. Kenya’s foremost entertainer finds a home in Kenya’s most successful Institute of Performing and Creative Arts among universities in Kenya

“The MKU Institute of Performing and Creative Arts teams up with Churchill to form the MKU-Churchill Institute of Performing and Creative Arts,” MKU Chairman Simon Gicharu said in a statement.

Gicharu said the Churchill Institute of Performing Arts will help in the production of entertainment in scenarios such as the COVID-19 and other unforeseen pandemics.

He also noted that the institute will provide scholarships for participating students who will exhibit potential for excellence in their respective fields.

“We will challenge ourselves how production of entertainment can continue even such a scenario in future. Nurture talent-based education whereby we will issue scholarships to those who exhibit potential for excellence. The scholarships will be similar to the sports scholarships offered by universities in the U.S,” Gicharu added.

As such, MKU hopes to export talents to Hollywood, Bollywood and Nollywood among other creative arts talent centres in the world.
