Cassypool fires back after Alex Mwakideu urged him to undergo ritual cleansing

Political commentator Cassypool has responded following radio presenter Alex Mwakideu’s call for him to undergo ritual purification after being seen walking a dog in Nairobi’s central business district.
Mwakideu argued that, according to Islamic principles, Muslims should not engage in such actions, and he demanded that Cassypool perform seven ritual baths to cleanse himself.
Speaking to YouTuber Trudy Kitui on Thursday, October 2, 2025, Cassypool criticised Mwakideu, saying the media personality had no right to speak on matters of religion he does not fully understand.
“I would like to tell Alex Mwakideu that if he does not understand religion, he should stop rushing to speak on matters he knows nothing about,” Cassypool said.
He added that Mwakideu should first learn about religion properly before making public pronouncements.
“First go to school, then enter a madrassa to be taught about religion and understand it. Do not speak recklessly,” he said.

Cassypool clarified that he was unaware of any wrongdoing in walking a dog, noting that acts considered haram in Islam typically include consumption of pork, alcohol, and participation in gambling, not handling a dog.
He stressed that his walk occurred late at night while he was attending to personal projects in Nairobi and that the dog was merely accompanying him as he returned home.
“How can he speak about my religion? The dog I was walking is a creature of Allah. In Islam, forbidden things include pork, alcohol, and gambling, but not a dog. Dogs are only restricted around prayer areas, and I was simply attending to my projects at night and on my way home to bathe,” he added.
The artiste also highlighted that Mwakideu had no direct knowledge of his religious practice, pointing out that the commentator had not formally identified himself as a Muslim and had never interacted with him in any religious setting.
Cassypool emphasised that public commentary on faith should be informed, particularly when it involves the personal actions of others.
“I would like to tell him that if he does not understand religion, he should stop rushing to speak on matters he knows nothing about. He should first learn about religion properly before making public pronouncements,” Cassypool added.
