Kenyan rapper Boutross Munene has shared the unexpected origin story behind one of his fan-favourite tracks, Shake It Off.
Speaking on the night of Friday, August 1, 2025, during an interview with a local TV station, he disclosed that the song, which has captivated audiences with its catchy hook and laid-back energy, was crafted in a humble setting—right from his house.

“I was just chilling at home when I wrote Shake It Off,” Boutross said. “Then I felt like it needed a woman’s touch on the hook.”
Instead of reaching out to a professional singer, Boutross turned to someone close—his younger sister.
“I asked my small sis to record the hook for me, and she absolutely killed it,” he said.
The collaboration added a unique flair to the song, contributing to its widespread appeal. Fans have praised the track’s originality and the blend of Boutross’s signature lyrical flow with the soulful hook.
