Babu Owino shares the secret behind his 15 year marriage
Embakasi East MP Babu Owino recently opened up about the secret to his long-lasting marriage with his wife, Fridah Muthoni.
Speaking during an interview with a local YouTube channel on Thursday, July 25, 2025, the politician shared that love, respect, and good communication have helped them stay together for 15 years.

Love, respect, and communication
According to Babu, marriage is not just about the happy moments but also about working through the difficult times. He said that the reason his relationship has lasted this long is that both he and his wife are intentional and communicate openly
“You should be intentional. You should know what a woman wants in marriage. The first thing a woman wants is appreciation. Appreciate your wife. The second thing is communication. How do you communicate with your wife? The third thing is spending time together. Presence. Don’t confuse presents with presence. Don’t just take gifts if you are not present. Be around.” Babu said.
He added that he doesn’t see marriage as a prison, like many young people do. Instead, he sees it as a partnership where both people help each other grow.
Prayer and patience also matter
Aside from love and communication, Babu said that prayer plays a big role in their marriage. He believes that putting God first helps strengthen the bond between husband and wife.
“Every marriage must be anchored in prayer. Whenever a relationship between a wife/ husband and God fails, marriage fails. So anchor your marriage. Be very prayerful. Provide as well and provide emotionally. Women are emotional creatures, and if you want to handle a woman, handle her emotions.” Babu added.
He also said that patience is essential. Not everything will always go smoothly, but having patience with each other makes the journey easier.
Babu Owino’s love story began back in university. The couple met while they were both students at the University of Nairobi.
Even before he became a politician, Fridah stood by him and supported him in every way. The couple has two children.
