Zora actor appeals to Uhuru, Ruto after losing 3 relatives to fire

Kenyan actor Ryan Mwenda known for his role as Simba in the popular TV soap opera Zora, has made a public plea to former President Uhuru Kenyatta and current Head of State William Ruto in the wake of a tragic fire incident that claimed the lives of three of his relatives.

In a 5-minute Instagram video, the 16-year-old actor shared the news of the loss of his loved ones in a fire that engulfed their residence in South B on the night of March 2, 2024.

“I am absolutely devastated. Words can’t explain my pain during this moment. The loss of my 3 relatives in such a short period has been heavy on us as a family. We ask that you keep us in your prayers,” Mwenda shared.

Mwenda disclosed that he was the nephew of Jackie, cousin to Tymara Karimia, and a close friend to their nanny, Kinya, all of whom tragically lost their lives in the fire.

Addressing the retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and his successor William Ruto he appealed for financial support to give his loved ones a befitting sendoff.

“It’s such a devastating time for me and my family and I’m humbly appealing to my friends, the Fourth President of Kenya His Excellency Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta and the Fifth President of Kenya His Excellency President William Ruto to come to the aid of my family to assist in giving them a befitting send-off,” he stated.

In a previous post, while sharing the news of his tragic loss, Mwenda also revealed the heartbreaking news of losing his grandfather just five months ago.

Loved Auntie Jackie, my Beloved cousin Tymara, and Auntie Kinya their househelp.
I am devastated, it’s unbelievable how these 3 lives were lost in an inferno… I cannot imagine the cries and the shouts u made calling for help invain….Tamyra our last born cousin, I am sorry no one listened to your cries…. 😭😭😭😭It is not well at all! 💔💔Lord help me. Lord remember my Grandma at this moment, I lost my Grandpa, bearly five months ago! 😭Lord, come through for my family…”

3 people die in a fire in South B

The devastating news of the fire was shared on Facebook by Doris Kanario, the sister of the victim.

She revealed that the fire consumed the home of Jackie Smith, claiming the lives of Jackie, her infant daughter Tamyra, and their longtime housekeeper, Kinya.

She disclosed that she had just spoken to her sister an hour before the incident.

“Sister, I chatted with you until 1 am, what happened in two hours to lose the family? Only God knows,” she cried. Doris noted that she was yet to believe the struggle her sister went through trying to save her baby and their lovely house help.
