National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula is elated after meeting the head of the Roman Catholic Church Pope Francis in Vatican City.

Taking to his X account on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, Wetang’ula posted a photo of himself with Pope Francis at his Apostolic Palaces popularly known as Papal Palace with a touchy caption.

“Honoured to meet the Heąd of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, at his Apostolic Palace popularly known as Papal Palace in Vatican City,” Wetang’ula wrote.

Showering praises at the man of God, the National Speaker described him as a true servant leader who brings hope, equality and opportunity to the less fortunate.

 Wetangula added that the Pope also exhibits the gesture of a role model of mercy, love, compassion and courage as he leads the universal church.

Wetangula who is in the country for official duties did not provide many details on whether they had discussions only expressing excitement after meeting him.

Westlands Member of Parliament, Wetang’ula’s brother Tim Wanyonyi was also present at the Papal Palace.

In 2022, Papa wa Roma’s nickname gained momentum among Kenyans who use it casually to refer to the former Bungoma County Senator.

Wetang’ula adopted it and has always tagged the nickname alongside his social media posts.
