President William Ruto has met with a section of leaders drawn from the Lower Eastern region, as part of ongoing consultations ahead of the Mashujaa Day celebrations scheduled to take place at Ithookwe Stadium in Kitui County.

Through a post on his X handle on Friday, October 10, 2025, the Head of State said that the journey to stabilising Kenya’s economy has not been easy but that his administration has made great strides in restoring confidence, reducing inflation, and lowering the cost of living.

Economy on a stable path

“We have come a long way in stabilising our economy. The task ahead now is to accelerate our economic growth and create wealth and jobs,” President Ruto said.

He noted that the current progress is a result of collective commitment and collaboration between the government, the private sector, and county leadership.

The President further stressed that his government’s priority is to ensure economic transformation is felt by ordinary citizens through increased employment opportunities, better access to credit, and improved infrastructure across counties.

In his remarks, President Ruto welcomed the MP’s decision to work with the government, saying his move demonstrated a shared desire to improve the livelihoods of his constituents.

“I specifically thank Mwingi West MP Charles Ngusya Nguna of the Wiper Party for his bold move to join our team so as to push forward the development agenda in his constituency,” Ruto said.

The meeting comes at a time when the government is preparing to mark this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations in Kitui, with Ruto reaffirming his commitment to ensuring equitable development and inclusive growth across all regions of Kenya.
