Suspected Pokot bandits on Thursday, March 17, sprayed bullets to a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) in Turkana County leaving the driver and one foreigner badly injured.
In a police report seen by K24 Digital, the driver identified as Charles Chegem spotted three bandits who flagged him down but he defied and opted to speed off.
However, the bandits instead reached to their guns and sprayed the PSV with bullets leaving occupants badly injured.
“The driver defied and accelerated prompting the bandits to shoot twice at the front side of the vehicle. During the incident, the driver and one passenger who occupied the front seat suffered gunshot wounds,” the report filed at Kainuk Police Station read in part.
The passenger (Spanish) identified as Diana Astropetros was shot on the right foot and is currently admitted at a hospital in critical condition.
“The driver managed to drive the vehicle to Kainuk Health Dispensary where it was confirmed that the Spanish national was shot on the right foot,” the report read in part.
According to the report, the driver also suffered slight gunshot wounds on the right thigh. He was, however, treated and discharged from the hospital.
