Thursday blackout to affect parts of 4 counties
Kenya Power has announced a temporary power outage that will affect several parts of Nairobi, Kajiado, Kirinyaga, and Mombasa counties on Thursday, July 10, 2025.
In a public notice issued on Wednesday, July 9, the company said the blackout is due to routine maintenance work on the electricity network. The power interruption is expected to affect specific areas within the four counties at different times during the day.

In the Nairobi region, the South C area will experience a blackout from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Areas to be affected include Kongoni Primary School, Nairobi South Hospital, Razana Hotel, Kalsungura Road, CID South C, Muhoho Avenue, Khalsa Schools, Mow Sports Club, Bellevue, Popo Road, Kenya Red Cross, Kenya Bureau of Standards, Toyota Kenya, Kenya National Examinations Council South C, Kenya Reinsurance Estate, Kenya Ports Authority Flats, Bandari Apartments, Next Gen Mall, Eka Hotel, Next Gen Park, Dafam Hotel, College of Insurance, Amboseli Estate, Highview Estate, Real Estate, the Southern Bypass, Ole Sereni Hotel, and adjacent areas.
In Kajiado County, parts of Kitengela will be without power from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Affected places include Exotic Peninah, Enkasiti, Maasai Ostrich Farm, Riverine, Global Village, Alexander Forbes, Lake Oil Korompol, Marvel Green, Succos, Kajiado East Technical, Kwa Monica Juma, Archichem, Antilog, Jumbo Tank, Surge, Kreative Concrete, Moran Wires, Tuf Foam, Zenith Steel, Imara Steel, Kenturain, Eden Park, and surrounding areas.
In the Mount Kenya region, parts of Kirinyaga County, specifically the Delmonte Lagoon area, will experience a blackout from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Affected areas include Delmonte Lagoon, Delmonte Hospital Village, Salvation Army Training College, Salvation Quarry, Kenya Cutting, Swan Coffee, Mwanawikio Village, Nanga Village, Mama Africa School, Greystone Market, Swan Secondary School, Steppingstone School, and nearby locations.
In the North Eastern region, Wangige and Mwimuto will be affected from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Areas set to experience the blackout include Wangige Market, Gathiga Market, Mwimuto Market, Kibiku, and surrounding areas.
Along the Coast, Kenya Power has scheduled an outage from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm in the whole of Shanzu and parts of Nyali in Mombasa County. Hotels and establishments to be affected include Continental Hotel, Serena Hotel, Pride Inn Hotel, Shanzu Garden Estate, Cowrie Shell, Neptune Hotel, Severin Sea Lodge, Plaza Beach, Papillion, Kenya Bay, Kahamas Hotel, Yuls Hotel, Bamburi Beach Hotel, Ziwa Hotel, Travelers Hotel, Sarova Whitesands Hotel, Charchoma, Aga Khan Holiday Homes, Thirika Farm, Sai Rock, Total Babuti, Bamburi Police Station, Bora Bora, Big Tree Hotel, Kunazi Estate, Kibaki Flats, Pirates Beach, Kenya Wildlife Service, Lido Beach Hotel, Milele Beach Hotel, Baobab Holiday Resort, Memon Estate, Kingston Hotel, Baobab Road, all Avenues from 1st to 6th in Nyali, Shikara Apartments, Nyali Center, City Mall, SOS, Palm Breeze Hotel, Sunrise Hotel, Paradise Apartments, Right Address Apartments, Bliss Hotel, Swminaryan Academy.
