A road accident involving a school bus left three students and six teachers of Olasiti Boarding Primary School injured on Saturday morning July 13, 2024.
The school bus was involved in the accident at Kimwani along Nandi Hills-Kopere road in Nandi County.
The students were going back to school in Narok County after participating in the Rift Valley Music Festivals from the East Africa University Of Baraton before the accident occurred.
According to a police report, the bus lost control and landed in a ditch within the Coptic area.
Locals rushed to the scene of the accident and pulled the students who were writhing in pain and screaming from the vehicle.
Speaking to K24 Digital, Tinderet Deputy County Commissioner Esther Oyugi said a total of 42 pupils had boarded the bus together with six teachers.
Oyugi stated the injured were rushed to Nandi Hills County Hospital where they are undergoing treatment.
“We have had six teachers and three pupils seriously injured in the accident which occurred at Kimwani area. The bus of Olasiti Boarding Primary School had 42 pupils, six teachers and the driver,” Oyugi said.
“Those injured have been rushed to Nandi Hills County hospital for management but we have a development again that four of them; a teacher and three pupils have been referred to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret.”
There were no casualties reported in the incident.
