The race for Kasarani Constituency parliamentary seat is getting hotter after Sportpesa CEO Ronald Karauri announced his bid.

The betting mogul revealed his intentions to vie for the seat on Wednesday in Kasarani where he presided over a function. He said he has decided to run for the MP seat following requests from the people of Kasarani.

“I have been asked on several occasions why I should not run for the Kasarani MP seat? If the people of Kasarani have chosen me, why should I decline to run? I have agreed to run for the seat and I am sure we will win,” Ronald said.

The former Kenya Airways pilot is the latest candidate to enter the race in a bid to unseat Mercy Gakuya after rapper Jackson Makini alias Prezzo also declared his interest in the seat.

Karauri has, however, not revealed the political party he intends to run on.

Prezzo revealed his intent to vie for the seat early this month while he was urging Kasarani residents to come out in large numbers to register as voters.

Wengi wao wanaenda studio kupiga picha kama wamevaa tai na wamekunja shati kuwafunika macho. Tusiwe vipofu. KASARANI it is wangu (sic)! Na Chama ntawapeleka rieng ila cha msingi…Deadline ni 6th Feb. Chezeni ki nyinyi. Sitawangusha,” Prezzo said.

Just like Prezzo who quit Wiper Party, Karauri is yet to declare the party he will vie on.
