Section of Nairobi estates to experience blackout on Sunday, September 7
Kenya Power has scheduled maintenance in sections of Nairobi, Kajiado, Kisumu, and Uasin Gishu counties on Sunday, September 7, 2025.
In a notice, the utility firm confirmed that various areas within Nairobi will be largely affected by the maintenance exercise, which is aimed at improving reliability and efficiency.

Residents in the listed areas in Nairobi are expected to experience the outage from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
In Babadogo, the areas listed include New Kenafric Factory, Old Kenafric Factory, Rubber Factory, Cussons, Siraj, Kariadudu, Roy Transporters, Chandaria Factory, Regal Pharmaceutical, Impala, E.A Foundry, Babadogo Catholic Church, and adjacent customers.
The Downtown area within the Nairobi Central Business District will also be hit by the planned maintenance. Specific areas set to be affected include River Road, Sheikh Karume, Luthuli, Accra Road, Duruma Road, Dubois, Part Kirinyaga Road, Charles Rubia Road, and adjacent customers.
At Garden Estate, Jewel Ministries, Garden Estate Mall, KBL Offices, Prabaki, GSU Headquarters, and adjacent customers will also be in the dark for almost eight hours.
In Nairobi West, listed areas are parts of Muhoho Avenue, Mama Ngina Children’s Home, Muhuti Avenue, Part of Ole Shapara Road, Uchumi Road, Heshima Estate, Aljazeera, Five Star Estate, Ruby Estate, Halai Estate, Jua Kali Road, Olive Road, St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic, Momon Estate, Midland Court Estate, Fedha Apartments, Parkview Apartments and adjacent customers.
Areas in Kenyatta, Mbagathi and Kibera have also been listed in the Kenya Power notice.
“Madaraka Garage, Geomap, Kenyatta Hospital Flats, Mbagathi Way, Ngumo, Kibera Laini Saba, Unduku, Silanga & adjacent customers,” the notice read in part.
Kajiado
In Kajiado, the maintenance exercise is also scheduled to run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
“Isinya Town, Technosteel, Kingsun, Kisaju Plains, Pipeline Rd, Enchoroi, Nandonderit, Kisaju Mixed, Inkiito and adjacent customers,” the electricity transmitting company listed.
In Uasin Gishu, Catholic Diocese, Eldoret Hospital, Daima Towers and adjacent customers will be affected, while in Kisumu, specific areas will be without power from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
