Kenya Power announces scheduled maintenance in parts of Nairobi

Kenya Power has announced a planned power outage in parts of Nairobi County on Saturday, August 30, 2025, as part of its ongoing nationwide maintenance programme.
According to the utility company, the exercise is aimed at improving electricity supply reliability in the region.
Affected area
In the advisory issued on Friday, August 29, 2025, Kenya Power indicated that the maintenance will take place from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and it will affect a section of customers along Mombasa Road.
Areas to be affected include Alpha Centre, Ram Toms Mombasa Road, Crown Health, Express Kenya, Nice and Lovely, Express High Offices, Manchester Out Fitters and adjacent customers.

The company acknowledged that the interruption may inconvenience businesses and households but urged residents to prepare in advance by charging devices and preserving perishable goods.
Maintenance in other regions
The announcement follows a broader exercise carried out on Friday, August 29, which saw power interruptions in parts of Kisumu County, the areas include Homalime Factory, Koru Centre, Chesigot, Gilirmori, Kunyak Dispenser, and neighbouring customers.
Similarly, the utility company announced the maintenance exercises on Thursday, August 27, which affected several parts of the country. In Nairobi, parts of Mowlem and Umoja Three were affected, while in the North Rift, sections of Trans Nzoia County, including Bikeke, Maili 7, and Matunda Hospital, experienced outages.
In Kiambu County, Tigoni, Loreto, and Redhill, including institutions such as St Paul University, were also covered in the maintenance. The Coast Region was significantly affected, with the entire Likoni area in Mombasa, including Kenya Ferry and Aga Khan Hospital, going without power for several hours. Taita Taveta’s Taveta, Maktau, and Mwatate towns, as well as Kilifi’s Gkambala area and Vipingo Centre, were also listed in the programme.
