Salasya boasts of overwhelming support in Bungoma as he intensifies presidential bid

Mumias East MP Peter Salasya is boasting of attracting huge crowds during his ongoing tour across Western Kenya, as he continues to pitch his presidential ambitions ahead of the 2027 General Election.
In a statement shared via his Instagram page on Saturday, May 3, 2025, Salasya said the response he received on the ground was overwhelming, calling it a clear sign that Kenyans are ready for a new kind of leadership.
“Naitiri, Mbakalu, Milembe, Nyange, and now Matunda — The ground is speaking!” he wrote.
“What we witnessed in Tongareni constituency, Bungoma County, was not just a political event. It was a movement in motion — a true people’s revolution taking shape. From Naitiri to Mbakalu, from Milembe to Nyange, and finally to Matunda, the love and reception we received was overwhelming, humbling, and energising beyond words,” the youthful MP stated.
Salasya described his stops across Bungoma County as more than just political rallies. He called them powerful, people-driven movements filled with excitement, hope, and a strong desire for change.
At Naitiri, he claimed youth came out in large numbers, chanting slogans of transformation. Boda boda riders created a buzz, women ululated in support, and local leaders welcomed him warmly.
The ground is speaking
In Mbakalu, the legislator said he was moved by elderly residents who walked long distances just to meet him and bless his journey. He described the atmosphere as emotional and inspiring, saying the people’s belief in him gave him renewed strength.
Milembe, according to Salasya, was one of the most energetic stops. There was music, dance, laughter, and bold declarations from young people who vowed to stand behind his bid. He said the energy there was unmatched, and it proved the movement was not just about politics, but about real people power.
“*Milembe* was pure fire. The energy, the dance, the music, the laughter, and the bold declarations from the youth that “this time, it’s us or no one!” set the tone for something bigger than just politics — a movement anchored in people power. I shared my story with them, and in return, they shared their trust and belief in our cause,” he shared.

In Nyange, Salasya reported being gifted with food by mothers, while school children and young men cheered him on. He described the love he received there as heartfelt and genuine, adding that it affirmed his message was hitting home at the grassroots level.
But it was Matunda that, according to Salasya, sealed the deal. He said thousands turned up, full of hope and anticipation. The crowd asked questions and showed interest, which Salasya took as a strong sign that Kenyans are hungry for something different.
“And then came *Matunda* — what a climax! The people of Matunda turned out in thousands. Their voices roared with hope, their eyes gleamed with anticipation, and their questions were bold, not out of doubt, but from the hunger for change. The town was painted in our vision, and every handshake, every hug, every shout of solidarity, told me one thing: the time is now,” Salasya declared.

“To those who still dare to question our intentions or doubt our strength — look no further,” he added confidently.
While touring Western Kenya ahead of the 2027 General Election, Salasya called for unity among the Luhya community, lamenting persistent disunity that he says has denied the region key leadership roles and development opportunities.
Speaking at Dorof Market in Kanduyi, Bungoma County on Saturday, May 3, 2025, Salasya criticised current Luhya leaders for prioritising personal interests over the community’s development.
Citing past unifying figures like Masinde Muliro and Kijana Wamalwa, he urged the community to rally behind transformative leadership. Salasya also reiterated his 2027 presidential ambitions, presenting himself as the leader to unite the Luhya people and drive national change.
Salasya started his latest countrywide campaign tour on May 1, 2025, in Busia County as he plans to continue travelling across Kenya to spread his message.
