Ruto mourns Kiambu MCA Ezra Kihara

President William Ruto has joined the Kiambu County fraternity in mourning the death of the nominated Member of County Assembly (MCA) Ezra Kabuga Kihara.

In a statement published on his official X account on Sunday, September 22, 2024, Ruto described the youthful MCA as a dedicated and loyal member of UDA adding that he had exemplary skills in party politics.

The head of state further revealed that in 2022 during the party primaries, Kihara played a crucial role as the Kiambu County returning officer.

“We are saddened by the loss of Hon. Ezra Kihara, Nominated MCA at the Kiambu County Assembly. He was a dedicated and loyal member of UDA. His skills in party politics were exemplary, and he played a crucial role as the Kiambu County returning officer during the party primaries in 2022,” Ruto stated.

He went on to say that his outstanding leadership capabilities earned him a nominated position adding that before his untimely death, he was selected as a member of the UDA National Elections Board technical team for grassroots elections.

“As a result of his outstanding leadership capabilities, he was nominated as an MCA and his contribution will be dearly missed. Recently, he was picked as a member of the UDA National Elections Board technical team for grassroots elections. Rest In Peace, Ezra.”Ruto mourned.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has also sent his condolence message to the family of Kihara.

“It is with profound sorrow that I learnt of the passing on of Hon. Ezra Kihara, Nominated MCA, Kiambu County. Hon. Kihara was a brilliant, prolific and promising young leader, whose focus was serving the People and the Nation, of Kenya.”

Kihara’s death

On Sunday, September 22, 2024, Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi announced the sudden death of Kihara who died in a road accident along the Thika Super Highway.

In a statement, the governor, while mourning the MCA conveyed condolences to his family, stating that he was a vibrant and promising young leader.

“It was with a deep sense of loss that I received the sad news of the death of the nominated Member of the County Assembly, Hon. Ezra Kabuga Kihara. Hon. Kabuga was a vibrant and promising young leader, whose commitment and passion for serving the people of Kiambu were evident in every aspect of his work,” Wamatangi stated.

Wamatangi promised the family of the deceased that the county was involved in their grief, adding that Kihara was a kind legislator who had left a legacy of friendliness to people around him.

“We share in your sorrow and honour his memory, which will live on in the legacy he leaves behind. On behalf of my family, the County Government of Kiambu, and the great people of Kiambu, I urge Hon. Kabuga’s family and the County Assembly to accept our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” Wamatangi added.
