The Kenya Meteorological Department has predicted rainfall in several areas of Nyanza and the Nairobi region over the weekend.
In a statement on Saturday, March 29, 2025, the weatherman indicated that the regions are most likely to experience widespread instances of rainfall on Saturday and Sunday, March 30, 2025.
During this period, the areas of Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot Counties are expected to have rainfall occurring mostly in the afternoons.
In the mornings, these areas are predicted to experience sunny intervals with rain occurring in only a select few areas. The temperatures are also projected to range between 11 degrees Celsius and 31 degrees.
Nairobi rains
Also, areas of Nairobi, including Kasarani, are projected to experience heavier rainfall on Saturday, March 29, 2025, and Sunday afternoon, according to the weatherman.
Notably, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka-Nithi counties are also expected to have rainfall patterns in the afternoons, with a few areas expected to experience rain in the mornings.

The temperature in these areas will range from highs of 29 degrees Celsius to lows of 9 degrees during the period predicted.
Fewer rains
Meanwhile, the regions of Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties will experience sunny intervals during the mornings and partly cloudy weather in the afternoons, with slimmer chances of rainfall on Saturday and Sunday.
Temperatures here, however, are expected to flare up to highs of 40 degrees Celsius during the day and drop to lows of 18 degrees.
Equally, the South-Eastern lowlands of Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta Counties, as well as inland parts of Tana River County, are expected to receive fewer instances of rainfall over the weekend. The areas here will mostly experience sunny intervals with cloudy weather.
The coastal region of Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale Counties, as well as coastal parts of Tana River County, is also expected to experience fairly warm weather, with isolated instances of rainfall either in the mornings or afternoons.
The temperatures in these regions are projected to stay between 23 and 35 degrees Celsius during the weekend.
Areas of Nairobi, Nyanza, Western, and Central regions, which are predicted to have rain, will also have thunderstorms accompanying the showers over the weekend.
