Punjani’s palatial home where guards ‘interview’ guests before entry

Behind a blue metallic gate, is an expansive seven-bedroom palatial home that sits atop a creek overlooking the Indian Ocean.

That is the deluxe residence of suspected drug lord Ali Punjani.

Punjani’s highly-secretive but posh lifestyle has now been exposed to the world for the first time by the ongoing renewed war on illegal drug trade.

Before arriving at the balmy compound, what stands out is the detailed security features that define the Mombasa tycoon’s residence.

The first entrance is under tight guard by security officers, who first interview and inspect guests before ushering them in.

From the first gate is a tarmac way leading to the main entrance. This path is surrounded by a continuous fading green perimeter wall fitted with an electric fence.

Beyond the decorated wall, which borders the Indian Ocean to the East, is a stylish bungalow that has concealed the high-end lifestyle of the 44-year-old tycoon.

It was until Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i’s announcement that the government will embark on a “painful operation” on drug cartels at the Coast that the lavish lifestyle of the now-most sought after suspected drug baron has been made public.
