PS Muoria links Harambee Stars’ CHAN win to values taught in TVET colleges

Principal Secretary for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Dr Esther Muoria, has attributed Harambee Stars’ 1-0 victory over the Democratic Republic of Congo in the ongoing CHAN 2024 tournament to values instilled in Kenya’s TVET institutions.
In a statement posted on her official X account on Sunday, August 3, 2025, Muoria congratulated the national football team on their outstanding performance, saying the result was a reflection of the discipline, unity, and hard work demonstrated by the players.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to our national football team Harambee Stars for their outstanding victory over the Democratic Republic of Congo in the ongoing CHAN 2024 tournament,” Dr. Muoria wrote.
“This win is not only a testament to the hard work, discipline, and unity of our players, but also a proud moment for our country as a whole,” she added.
Sports and TVETs
Drawing connections between sports and education, the Principal Secretary emphasised the role of athletics in character development.
“As the Principal Secretary for TVET, I recognise the power of sports in shaping character, promoting teamwork, and fostering national pride and values that align closely with the principles we instill in our TVET institutions,” she noted.

She said the Harambee Stars’ determination on the field is a source of inspiration for young Kenyans, especially the thousands currently enrolled in technical and vocational training programs across the country.
“Your determination on the field inspires the youth across Kenya, including thousands of TVET trainees, to believe in themselves and strive for excellence in their respective fields,” she wrote.

The Principal Secretary also expressed hope that the national team’s performance would mark the beginning of even greater accomplishments in the tournament, as Kenya hosts CHAN for the first time.
“May this victory be a stepping stone towards even greater success in the tournament. Continue flying the Kenyan flag high!” she added.

Kenya’s win over DR Congo marked a strong start to their campaign, with upcoming matches against Angola on Thursday, August 7, 2025, Morocco on Sunday, August 10, 2025, and Zambia on Sunday, August 17, 2025.
