Motorists will have to dig deeper into their pockets this month after the energy regulatory authority prices increased fuel prices.

On Sunday, June 14, the Energy and Petroleum and Regulatory Authority (EPRA) increased the prices of super petrol by Sh5.77 per litre in Nairobi.

However, the EPRA reviewed downwards the prices of diesel and kerosene by Sh3.80 and Sh17.31 per litre respectively.

“The computation of the pump prices has taken into account the changes effected by the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act of 2020 that made taxes and duties part of the vatable amount in the calculation of VAT for petroleum fuels.

EPRA noted that the average landed cost of imported super petrol increased by 31.54 per cent from US$188.7 per cubic metre in April 2020 to US$248.21 per cubic metre in May.

In Nairobi, a litre of super petrol will now retail at Sh89.10 while diesel will go for Sh74.57 and Kerosene Sh62.46.
