Parts of 5 counties to experience blackout on Sunday September 21

Several areas in parts of five counties are set to experience a power outage on Sunday, September 21, 2025.
Kenya Power issued a notice on Saturday, September 20, 2025, citing planned maintenance in those specific areas as the cause of the blackout.
The notice by the utility firm has been issued in advance to help residents in the listed areas prepare for any inconveniences set to be caused by the lack of electricity.
Kiambu County
According to the notice, several areas in Kiambu will be affected by the planned maintenance from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The areas include parts of Ruiru, Ruiru Town, Murera Sisal, Matangi-Ini, Ndarasha, Jujafarm, Juja South Estate, Mama Mumbi, Murera Coffee, GSU Ruiru, Ruiru Kimbo, Toll Station, Mugutha, NIBS, Gitothua, BTL, Ruiru Prisons, Super Form, Alpha Nits, Jetlak, Angels, New Horizons, Parts Ruiru Kihunguro, Zitech University, Dr. Mattresses, Ukombozi, Imani Estate, Ruiru Greens, Ministry of Works Ruiru and adjacent customers.

Around Thika Greens and Kari Githingiri, several areas will also be affected. They include Thika Green Estates, Githingiri Estates, KARLO & KARI, Mugumo Farm, Thika Green Golf Club, Bahati Farm, Jotis Farm, Carton Manufacturer, and adjacent customers.
In the Bluepost area, Blue Post Hotel, Riverside Estate, Naidu Hospital, Chania Girls, Thika School for the Blind, Section 2, Part of Thika Main Stage, Jogoo Kimakia Estate, Maki Estate, Maporomoko, Bendor Est, Penta Flowers, Kenya Nut, Shadenet, Karangaita, Enkasiti, Bahati Ridge, Simbi Roses, Kwa Nyoka, Nyakio, Silver Oak, Laurens Flowers, Hannah Roses, Part of Ngoingwa Estate & adjacent customers.

Kericho
Apart from Kiambu, several areas in Kericho County will also experience a blackout from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
“Kapsoit Market, Kipchimchim Super Market, Rubis, Telanet Scs and adjacent customers,” the utility firm listed.
Nandi
In Nandi, customers have also been advised to prepare for a power outage lasting over 8 hours in certain areas.
They include Arwos and adjacent customers.

Kisii
The following locations will experience power outages: Diplozz Hotel, Ram Hospital, Kisii Law Courts, Kisii Central Police, Co-op Bank, Huduma Centre, Rubis, Scooby, Ufanisi Hotel, Sansora Building, Nyankongo Primary, KCB Bank, Shivling Supermarket, Central Bank, and adjacent customers.
Murang’a County
Ngararia Town, Kibendera, Gacharage, Mungaria, Gitambuika, Gitaimbuka TBC, Magomano, Ruchu Girls Schl, St. Peter’s Sch, Kiguoya Sec, Kandara Town, Muruka, Gatitu, Kagunduini, Gaichanjiru Parish, Gaichanjiru High Sch, Manjuu Sec, Karugia, Kiriko, Mutoho, Mabanda, Mukurwe, Kwa Jogoo Kimakia, Gatunyu, Mukarara S/Centre, Mukarara Sch, Kiunyu, Kiunyu Catholic, Kiunyu PCEA, Kihumbuini, Gatoka Farm, Simbi Roses, Penta Flowers and Maporomoko will be without power among other areas.
The planned maintenance is designed to enhance reliability.
