Kenya Power schedules power blackout in parts of 6 counties on Tuesday

Kenya Power has announced a temporary blackout scheduled to affect a section of Nairobi, Nyeri, Meru, Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Kiambu and Kitui on Tuesday, August 11, 2025.

The utility company attributed this interruption to routine network maintenance.

“Good evening, kindly receive scheduled power maintenance for tomorrow, Tuesday, 12th August 2025,” Kenya Power announced.

Specific areas

In Nairobi County, the 9:00 am to 5:00 pm planned blackout is set to affect customers at Parklands Road, Ojijo Road, Wambugu Road and adjacent customers.

While in Nyeri County, residents in Mukurweini, Ichamara, Kimondo market, Kihuti market, Kiangondu market, Thangathi market, Kiuu market, Ujamaa market, Mbugua market and adjacent customers will experience the planned outage from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

According to the latest advisory by the utility company, the scheduled power interruption in Meru County will affect customers in Maua town, Laare, Athi, Kimongoro, Igembe Tea Factory, Kiegoi Tea Factory, Athiru Gaiti, Lu-luma, Nyambene Hospital, Methodist Hospital, KWS, Kiengu, Kinna, Garbatulaa, Kula Mawe, Kiutine, Karichu, Kaboito, Rhino Camp, Kangeta Prison, Njia Boys, Kathelwa, Laare, Mutuati, Kabachi, K.K. Market, Antuabetwe, Kamukunji, China State Buulu and adjacent customers.

The outage in Meru County will start from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Similarly, in Murang’a County, the 9:00 am to 5:00 pm outage will affect residents in Equatorial Nut Processors, Afrimac, Kaharati Market, Muthithi Secondary School, Wamahiga Secondary School, Igiriro Market and adjacent customers.

The 9:00 am to 5:00 pm outage in Kirinyaga County will affect customers and businesses that depend on electricity in Mutira Girls, Kathiti Mutira, Karaini C/Fact, Riakiana Market, Kiangige Village, Kabonge, Hukoni Village, Kiaragana Market, Karuku TBC, J.S Mathenge and adjacent customers.

In Kiambu County, the planned power blackout will affect customers in Karanjee, Loreto Girls, Tigoni Hospital, Tigoni Police, Limuru Golf Club, Brown Cheese, Muguga Pyrethrum, Kabuki, St. Paul University, Redhill Heights, Solvein Suites, One Redhill, Wet Farm, St. Julian’s, Tropical Heat Karura, Munyaka and adjacent customers from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

In the advisory, Kenya Power also listed parts of Kitui county that will experience the outage from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, the areas include Mulutu, Mulutu Market, Unyaa, Tiva, Kavisuni, Katulani, Kanyangii, Kanyangii and adjacent customers.
