The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Central Committee has resolved to work with President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in the broad-based government.

The key leaders in a press statement on Tuesday, 29 July 2025, met under the leadership of Raila to review the state of the nation as well as current developments underway.

“The Central Committee of the Orange Democratic Movement met today, under the leadership of Party Leader Rt Hon Raila Odinga, to review the state of the nation, current developments in the party, and, in particular, the MOU with UDA and support for the Broad-Based Government,” read part of the statement by ODM.

Likewise, the committee, while reviewing the state of the nation, further acknowledged the party’s collaborative decision to have Party leader Raila work closely with the Kenya Kwanza Government, with emphasis on stabilising the country.

“That the party supports the position of Party Leader Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga to work with the Kenya Kwanza administration to stabilise the country and create an enabling environment for Kenyans to address their concerns through democratic and constitutional means,” stated the committee.

On the other hand, the committee also highlighted that the party is seeking to implement the signed landmark political pact centred on a 10-point agenda aimed at fostering national unity and addressing long-standing governance challenges.

10-Point agenda

Similarly, the ODM party leaders noted that their intention was to develop a technical team, including UDA counterparts, to spearhead the implementation of the 10-Point agenda.

“That in order to expedite the implementation of the 10-point agenda of the MOU, ODM will constitute a technical team to work with UDA counterparts as part of the political infrastructure to assist with the implementation of the agreement. The committee identified the absence of such a technical committee, which is contained in the MOU, as the missing link in the implementation of the document,” added the ODM committee.

In addition, the committee demanded the right to peaceful assembly during protests while acknowledging the protection of the livelihoods of young people.

“Of great concern is the full implementation of the NADCO report, promotion and protection of the livelihoods of young people, the right to peaceful assembly and protests, the rule of law and constitutionalism, corruption and wastage of public resources,” clarified the Committee.

Worth noting, the 10-point agenda agreement with President Ruto comes after years of political rivalry, and hence seeks to implement the recommendations of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report, including the creation of the Office of the Official Opposition Leader and the reinstatement of the Prime Minister’s position.
