The National Youth Service (NYS) has dismissed claims that its vehicles were used to transport individuals said to be involved in criminal activities during the recent Saba Saba demonstrations in Naivasha Sub-County.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, NYS said the accusations circulating on various media platforms are false and misleading.

“The National Youth Service (NYS) wishes to categorically clarify and strongly dispute the false and misleading allegations,” read the statement.

According to NYS, no vehicle was deployed to Naivasha during the period in question except for official duties unrelated to the protests.

“No National Youth Service vehicle was deployed to Naivasha during the stated period for unrelated official duties,” the agency clarified.

NYS further said that its personnel operate under strict command and accountability protocols.

 NYS non-political?

It stressed that movement of all NYS assets, including vehicles, is well documented and can be verified at any time and that it is non-political.

“NYS personnel operate under strict command and accountability procedures. Movement of all NYS assets, including vehicles, is documented and subject to verification at any given time,” the statement asserted.

The agency denied ever being involved in partisan or unlawful activities, calling attempts to link the institution with such actions a grave misrepresentation of its values.

“National Youth Service remains apolitical and has never been involved in partisan or unlawful activities,” it said.

The statement warned that any attempt to associate NYS with politically motivated or criminal acts was harmful to its reputation.

“Any attempt to associate NYS with criminal or politically instigated actions is a grave misrepresentation of our core values,” it added.

The agency called on members of the public, the media, and political leaders to avoid sharing unverified information that could damage its reputation.

“We urge members of the public, media, and political leaders to refrain from propagating unverified information,” the statement appealed.

NYS maintained it remains committed to serving the country with integrity, loyalty, and professionalism.

“The National Youth Service remains steadfast in its mission to serve the Nation with integrity, loyalty and professionalism,” the agency said.
