NTSA unveils duty update module to streamline motor vehicle and motorcycle records

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has operationalised a new Duty Update Module, a digital vehicle records update tool, to enhance service delivery and support for all motor vehicle and motorcycle owners.
In a notice to the public on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, the Authority stated that the tool will also support financial institutions, insurance companies, government agencies, dealers, and corporations.
The tool is aimed at simplifying the process of updating motor vehicle records, verifying duty status, and ensuring accuracy in the NTSA database.
“In undertaking its mandate, the Authority has operationalised the duty update module/vehicle records update tool to provide necessary support to all motor vehicle/motorcycle owners, including financial institutions, government agencies, insurance companies, and dealers. Companies, among others,” read the notice in part.

Requirements
Further, NTSA has given a list of documents required to facilitate duty status/records update for motor vehicles and motorcycles, which include the following;
- A duty/records update request letter. (Ensure the contact information, either the phone number and email address of the motor vehicle owner, is provided. The Authority shall stamp a copy of the same letter as proof that the documents were perused and received.
- Copy of the identification card of the owner
- The original logbook for the motor vehicle
- KRA Entry document
- Duty payment receipt
Additionally, the Authority aims to undertake the verification process and update the duty/records in the service portal within seven working days, with the application processing time starting when the requisite documentation is verified and received at the NTSA offices.
“Upon updating the duty status/vehicle records, a notification shall be sent to advise the motor vehicle owner to collect the original documents submitted to the Authority. The application for duty/records update and the verification process is free of no charge. All communication with the application shall be through official NTSA channels,” the notice read.
Document collection
Collection Point: Upon receipt of the notification on the collection of the original documents through official NTSA channels, the registered owner is expected to visit the NTSA office where the application documents were presented and received.
Collection timing: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (excluding gazetted public holidays)
Further, the Authority has warned that it shall not be held liable for documents submitted to unauthorised point(s)/person(s).
