Ngogoyo explains Ruto’s main problem, offers proposal

Amid Kenya’s ever-evolving political landscape, Kajiado North MP Onesmus Ngogoyo has openly criticised President William Ruto’s leadership style, pointing to what he calls the president’s overreliance on flashy displays of money to prove his achievements.
Speaking to the media on Friday, August 8, 2025, Ngogoyo maintained that carrying money and engaging in self-worshipping were not proof of Ruto’s achievement.
“Don’t talk too much. Let your work speak for you,” Ngogoyo advised, clearly referencing President Ruto’s penchant for carrying money in public and equating that with effective leadership.
“Ruto’s problem is that he wants to carry money around and say that’s the work he is doing,” Ngogoyo said, adding that such gestures are not enough to build lasting progress for Kenya.
President William Ruto’s term has been marked by a series of public events where he visibly showcases cash handouts, often framed as evidence of his government’s development efforts. While some Kenyans see this as direct assistance, critics argue that these theatrics are superficial and do little to address the country’s deeper challenges.
Building lasting progress for Kenya
Ngogoyo emphasised that real leadership should focus on tangible results, sustainable development, and policy implementation rather than public displays of wealth.
“Leadership is about delivering impact that citizens can feel in their daily lives, not just handing out cash for photo opportunities,” he noted.
Looking ahead, Ngogoyo predicted a significant political shift in the country’s leadership. He expressed confidence that Kalonzo Musyoka and Rigathi Gachagua, both seasoned politicians with strong grassroots connections, will come together to form the next government.
At the same time, the political scene is shifting, with notable figures like Kalonzo Musyoka and Gachagua gaining momentum, signalling the potential emergence of a new government coalition.
“Kalonzo and Gachagua will form the next government,” he stated firmly, suggesting that their collaboration will bring fresh energy and direction to Kenya’s governance.
As the political temperature rises ahead of upcoming elections, Ngogoyo’s remarks underscore growing dissatisfaction with performative politics and highlight the desire for leaders who prioritise action over spectacle.
