The Nairobi County government has advertised over nearly 1,500 jobs, many of them for askaris.

The jobs, advertised through the Nairobi City County Public Service Board portal, include slots for 800 county constables, 200 firemen and 498 teachers.

Those shortlisted for the county constable slots will earn a salary between Sh14, 610 to Sh16,250. The askaris will also enjoy house allowance and commuter perks of Sh4,125 and Sh3,000 respectively. Cumulatively, the county askaris will take home slightly over Sh23,000.

The highest-paid early childhood development teach will get to take home about Sh39,000 while the lowest-earning will get over Sh32,000. Their pay includes house and transport allowances.

Firemen will get to take home Sh23,375 for the highest-paid.

The county has encouraged disabled people and women to apply through the online portal before March 19.
