Tourism Cabinet Secretary nominee Rebecca Miano has revealed that her net worth is Ksh444 million.

Appearing before the Parliamentary Vetting Committee on Saturday, August 3, 2024, Miano said that her net worth had increased from Ksh397 million, occasioned by reevaluating her assets.

“My net worth is Ksh444 million. When you vetted me around 22 months ago my net worth was Ksh397 million. I have not increased the assets but what I have done is to revalue modestly the properties taking into account the appreciation,” she said.

Miano also defended her performance in other ministries where she served the government under President William Ruto.

“We managed to resolve many non-tariff barriers to be able to export our products. As well as the participation in the Confederation, we explained the positioning of Kenya and the benefits. I took over during the worst drought that we saw in 40 years. I will put in strategic measures to help mitigate this. I learned the power of communication and disseminating information in branding and marketing,” she said.

Miano appeared before the Committee for the second time in two years but this time for a different Ministry.

Miano an advocate of the high court, holds a Masters in Law from the University of Salford, Manchester United Kingdom.

Miano was the first female Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen), a role she served in for five years.

She also held the position of Cabinet Secretary for the East African Community before she was moved to  the Trade docket in 2023 where she served until the Cabinet was dissolved.

She is a member of the Law Society of Kenya and has served on the Finance Committee of the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK).

She has also served as a council member of the World Bank Group’s Advisory Council on Gender and Development.
