Moja Expressway has announced the temporary overnight closure of Museum Hill Exit A to allow for planned maintenance and construction work along the Nairobi Expressway.

In a public notice issued on Saturday, May 10, 2025, the expressway operator stated that the exit will remain closed from 11:00 pm on Saturday until 5:00 am on Sunday, May 11, 2025.

Motorists planning to use the affected section of the road have been advised to make alternative travel arrangements during the period of closure.

Moja Expressway recommended the Haile Selassie exit as an alternative route.

“Please note that Museum Hill Exit A will be temporarily closed from 11:00 pm on Saturday, May 10, 2025, to 5:00 am on Sunday, May 11, 2025, to facilitate construction and maintenance work. Motorists are advised to plan their trips accordingly or use alternative routes such as the Haile Selassie Exit,” the notice read.

The company apologised for any inconvenience caused and thanked road users for their continued support and cooperation during the maintenance period.

“Apologies for the inconvenience caused, and thank you for choosing the Nairobi Expressway,” the notice concluded.

Similar closures

This is the latest in a series of temporary closures announced by Moja Expressway as part of ongoing improvement works on the Nairobi Expressway.

In April 2025, the company shut down Mlolongo Toll Station and Syokimau Entrance A to facilitate the construction of a pedestrian overpass at Katani.

That closure ran from 10:00 pm on April 12, 2025, to 8:00 am on Sunday, April 13, 2025.

“Please note that Mlolongo Toll Station and Syokimau Entrance A (opposite Dinlas Pharma) will remain closed from Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 10:00 pm to Sunday, April 13, 2025, at 8:00 am to pave the way for the ongoing construction of the pedestrian overpass at the Katani area,” the statement read.

Motorists affected by the April closure were directed to use the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) entrance for CBD-bound traffic, while those headed to Mlolongo were advised to exit via Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
