Nyali Member of Parliament Mohamed Ali, popularly known as Jicho Pevu, on Friday, September 12, 2025, took a swipe at United Democratic Alliance Secretary General Hassan Omar over remarks directed at Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro.

Through a fiery post on X, the outspoken legislator faulted Omar for what he termed as unfortunate and uncalled-for political attacks against his colleague.

“Unbelievable remarks by the so-called Secretary General of a party we once held high hopes for!

“This is not politics of economy, my friend, this is sheer politics of power. Kenyans today and their generations to come will remember you for i,t and history will not treat you kindly,” Jicho Pevu wrote.

He reminded Hassan Omar that power is never permanent, warning him that leadership detached from the people’s struggles never lasts.

“Power that’s blind to people’s plight is bound to diminish when people rise. Maskini akipata matako hulia mbwata!” he added.

In his initial remarks, Hassan Omar had defended the government’s borrowing, arguing that loans were being used to develop regions that were previously left out.

“All roads that had stalled are now ongoing. Then you hear a small boy called Nyoro crying that Kenya’s debt has skyrocketed.

“You know, some people took on debt and developed one part of Kenya only. We will also borrow loans and build the other part of Kenya.

‘So when we are developing other parts of Kenya, that is when you are complaining that Kenya’s debt is rising?” Omar posed.

He further challenged Ndindi Nyoro to explain why he never raised concerns about debt levels when he was chairperson of the National Assembly Budget and Appropriations Committee, yet began lamenting only after losing the powerful role.

The public exchange has once again laid bare growing cracks inside the ruling UDA party, with leaders openly clashing over debt, development, and the future direction of the government.
