Nyali MP Mohamed Ali shares emotional weight of returning to his father’s grave after a painful 2-year absence

Nyali Member of Parliament Mohamed Ali has opened up about the overwhelming emotional toll of grief in a deeply personal tribute marking the 19th anniversary of his father’s death.

Taking to his social media platforms on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, the prominent politician shared the intense vulnerability of returning to his father’s graveside following a painful, forced two-year absence caused by a severe physical injury.

For the former Jicho Pevu investigative reporter, the anniversary carried a unique weight this year.

Ali confessed that he had been physically unable to pay his respects at the cemetery for twenty-four months due to a lingering medical setback.

“Dad, I haven’t been able to visit your grave for the last two years due to my knee injury and I didn’t quite comprehend how coming here after so long could feel,” the MP wrote, capturing the sudden rush of emotion that accompanied his long-awaited return.

Ali shattered the common misconception that time heals all wounds, instead describing how the void left by a loved one expands rather than shrinks as the decades roll on.

“Its been 19 years since your passing, and every year feels heavier than the year before because grief doesn’t get lighter over time,” he reflected.

“It gets stronger and lonelier as the years pass and the longing for a loved one deepens and grows.”

The legislator spoke candidly about how much he still relies on his late father’s memory while navigating the high-stress world of Kenyan politics and community leadership, offering a rare glimpse behind his tough public persona.

“I miss you every day, in every aspect of my life and pray that Allah has rested your soul in Jannah,” he added.

Turning his thoughts toward his followers, many of whom are also dealing with the sting of bereavement, the lawmaker concluded his message with a touching sermon of comfort rooted deeply in his Islamic faith.

He urged those nursing broken hearts to find solace in a higher power and to trust the journey laid out for them.

“For everyone missing a loved one today, take heart and have faith in Allah’s plan for He is the best of planners,” Ali wrote.

“May we all be reunited with our loved ones in the gardens of Paradise.”
