Methu: Nothing will take us back to Ruto
Nyandarua Senator Methu Muhia has vowed that nothing will ever return the Mount Kenya vote to President William Ruto.
Speaking after a convoy of Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leaders was teargassed in Kigumo on Sunday, July 27, 2025, Methu said that their right to dissociate with Ruto should be respected.
“We have a choice and freedom to associate with whoever we want to associate with. We also have the freedom to dissociate with anyone we feel we don’t want to associate with,” Methu said.
Continue mobilizing
“We have dissociated ourselves 100 per cent with President William Ruto. Absolutely nothing will take us back to William Ruto.”
Methu noted that despite the disruption of their planned meeting, they will continue mobilizing the people against Ruto in the upcoming 2027 presidential election.

“We will continue telling our people to chase you home because you are the worst accident that has ever happened to this country. Electing you was a tragedy of monumental magnitude; we are the ones who elected you, and we are the ones who will send you home,” Methu stated.
He challenged the police to uphold the demands of their service of protecting life and property, stating that soon enough, they would be united in sending Ruto home.
Send Ruto home
“We want to ask the National Police Service (NPS) if indeed you are meant to protect lives and property, why are you destroying property? Why are you shooting live ammunition at innocent people who are peaceful?” he posed.

“We want to tell Ruto that these tools of terror that you are using will be for a short while; even the police you are using will also get tired. After a short while, all of us will be united to send you home.”
Methu was attending a church service at AIPCA Christ the King Church in Kahuro, Kigumo Constituency, along with other leaders allied to Gachagua.
After the service, the group planned to hold several public rallies in the county. However, they were met with a police blockade along a key road in the area.
