Melinda Gates opens up about her divorce, difficult journey towards healing

Melinda French Gates is speaking for the first time since her divorce from one of the world’s richest man Bill Gates.

In an interview with CBS, Melinda opened up about her decision to split and her difficult journey towards healing.

“I had a lot of tears for many days. There are days I lay on the floor and on the carpet,” she explained.

According to her, that gave her closure and helped her overcome.

“Its part of the grieving process. You are grieving the loss of something you thought you had for a lifetime,” she added.

Further, Melinda noted that she had full knowledge of Bill’s affair but that was not the only reason that led to their divorce.

“I thought we had walked through some of that. It wasn’t one moment or one specific thing that happened. There just came a point when it got unhealthy and I couldn’t trust what we had,” she stated.

She says she is now on her recovery journey.

” I started off this journey of healing and I feel like I’m starting to get on the other side, and I do feel like I turning a page in the next chapter now,” she noted.

Melinda and Gates were married for 27 years before their high profile divorce in May 2021.

The two, shared similar messages on Twitter to announce an end to their marriage saying: “After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage.”
