Dickens Kamau Odhiambo, popularly known as Kamau wa Kisumu, has claimed that his life is at risk after revealing that he never received the motorbike promised to him during a recent State House empowerment programme.

Speaking in an interview with a local TV station on Friday, August 15, 2025, Kamau stressed that he had been receiving threatening calls over the missing motorbike.

“They have been calling me from private numbers, telling me to either record a video saying I received the motorbike or claim I never went to State House. I refused,” Kamau said.

He recounted that he and other youth were photographed with motorbikes at the venue, but later told to leave:

Nikaambiwa nitoke nje ya Gate D. Hapo nikakutana na walinzi wa GSU wakaniambia nimeshatoa taarifa zangu, niende nyumbani.” When he inquired about delivery, he said, “Nikawauliza watajuaje nyumbani kwangu? Wakasema watatumia Truecaller. Nilipouliza zaidi, wakanifukuza.”

Other Youth affected

In the viral clip, other participants from Jacaranda in Embakasi also claim they left the event empty-handed.

Sisi tulikuwa 50, tukateuliwa 10. Proposal yetu ilikuwa kupata vifaa vya media, lakini tukaambiwa twende nyumbani. Hata wale wa boda hawakupata. Ndiyo tukasema hatutanyamaza,” another victim namely Otwala narrated.

Odhiambo said the follow-up meeting in Jacaranda was staged to cover up the missing motorbikes, claiming that some items were faked to appease the public backlash.

Kamau expressed his frustration over the reported deception: “Mimi niko tayari waniuue, lakini sitakubali kudanganya. Hawakunipea pikipiki. Na kama wanataka kuniua, waniue.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi noted that delays in delivery were mainly due to the formalisation of ownership processes.

State House initiative

The empowerment event was organised by President Ruto, who had promised the youth motorbikes and other items as part of the initiative. The participants continue to demand accountability and delivery of the promised items.
