Mama Gift hits back at critics accusing her of returning to TikTok to seek more donations

TikTok sensation and Embu mother of one, Mama Gift Gathoge, has addressed claims that she is ungrateful to her followers and donors, days after thousands of Kenyans rallied to support her during a highly publicised fundraiser for her ailing son, Baby Gift.
In a heartfelt video shared on her TikTok account on Thursday, October 30, 2025, Mama Gift appeared visibly emotional as she refuted claims that she had been complaining and begging again on live streams despite receiving generous support.
“Hello, everyone. I am making this video feeling really low because I have seen people saying that I am not grateful, that I go live on TikTok to complain and beg again. I do not understand that,” Mama Gift said.
She expressed her frustration over what she described as unfair criticism and false accusations, saying some individuals had begun spreading rumours that she was unappreciative and only after money.
She said that, contrary to the allegations, she had not held any live session to ask for more donations, insisting that those attacking her were twisting her words and intentions. She maintained that she remains deeply grateful to everyone who has supported her through her son’s journey.
“Yesterday I did not collect any money on live, honestly. Please stop creating stories about me. Stop spreading false things. Anyone who sent even ten shillings to support Baby Gift, I was and still am very thankful,” she said.
She added that people should instead focus on Baby Gift’s condition rather than creating unnecessary drama online.
Mama Gift said the focus should be on the progress and well-being of her child, who continues to fight multiple health challenges, including severe cerebral palsy and cardiovascular complications.
“So when you say I am greedy or only after money, where do you even get that from? How can I confront someone about their own money? Please just leave me alone. I do not want drama. Right now, what I wish people would ask is how my child is doing, that would make sense. These dramas you are creating, please stop. Giving is a matter of the heart, and may you all be blessed,” she added.

She also reminded her critics that giving is a personal choice and should not be weaponised against her or anyone else. She said she has never spoken ill of her supporters and would never do so because their kindness has sustained her family through difficult times.
“I have no issue with anyone. You have been supporting me so much, you are the reason I am able to eat and drink. I could never speak badly about you.”
The latest outburst comes just days after she had expressed immense gratitude to Kenyans who turned up in large numbers at the Njukiiri Showground in Embu on Sunday, October 26, 2025, for Baby Gift’s fundraising event.
During that earlier address, she had thanked every individual who donated, both in person and online, saying their show of love and solidarity had restored her faith and strength.
The event, coordinated by MC Chris Kirubi, attracted hundreds of TikTokers, well-wishers, and public figures from across the country, making it one of the most remarkable social-media-driven charity gatherings witnessed this year.
Forex trader and philanthropist Raymond Omosa, popularly known as Kenyan Prince, led the list of top contributors by donating Ksh100,000, while Mushkert FX, Mbithe Mulinge, Kaluma Boy, and several others also gave generously.
Baby Gift, who remains under his mother’s care, suffers from severe cerebral palsy, asthma, gastrointestinal complications, and recurrent convulsions, all of which have made his treatment journey both financially and emotionally taxing.
