Majority of Kenyans believe opposition will remain united in 2027 – TIFA
The majority of Kenyans believe the opposition will remain united as the country heads toward the 2027 elections, according to the latest TIFA survey.
The poll found that 32 per cent of respondents think it is “very likely” the opposition will stay together, while 30 per cent said it is “somewhat likely”.
In contrast, 29 per cent said unity is “not very likely”, and nine per cent were unsure.

The survey also examined respondents’ views based on attitudes toward the Broad-Based Government (BBG). Among BBG supporters, 26 per cent said it is very likely the opposition will remain united, while 37 per cent said it is not very likely.
Among BBG opponents, 35 per cent said unity is very likely, and 25 per cent said it is not very likely. Those with no opinion were fairly split, with 36 per cent seeing unity as very likely and 27 per cent as not very likely.

Overall, the poll shows a majority of Kenyans expect the opposition to remain cohesive, but a significant portion remains sceptical.
The findings indicate that while positive expectations of unity prevail, nearly four in ten respondents either doubt it or are unsure.
The TIFA survey, conducted in September 2025, sampled respondents from across Kenya, covering various regions, age groups, and political affiliations.

The survey measured public expectations regarding the likelihood of a united opposition at the time of the 2027 elections, highlighting nuanced public sentiment ahead of the polls.
The TIFA polls come a month after Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka moved to dismiss rumours of divisions within the opposition ahead of the 2027 elections.
The statements followed earlier reports suggesting friction between opposition figures, including claims that Democratic Action Party leader Eugene Wamalwa and Democratic Party leader Justin Muturi had confronted Gachagua over candidate nominations.
Wamalwa dismissed these claims as fake news, saying they were deliberately circulated to create discord within the opposition.
He added, “No amount of fake news will shake the unity, resolve and focus of TEAM #WANTAM to beat TEAM #TUTAM both in the coming by-elections and general elections! The die is cast!”
